He was a watercolourist, printmaker, muralist, commercial artist, designer, illustrator and teacher. He trained at the Royal College of Art and went on to have a distinguished career as a war artist. Bawden's commercial work spanned over 60 years and this versatile artist remains the acknowledged master of the linocut.
