Carry Akroyd's landscapes are influenced by her interest in geology, history, botany, wildlife and the poet John Clare, which combine with her instinctive use of colour and composition. She is a member of the Society of Wildlife Artists.

The flower meadow was seeded in 2014 as part of The Great Fen. It is on the site of Whittlesey Mere, once the largest lake in England after Windermere, drained for agriculture in the 19th century.
