Head down your garden and peer amongst the flowers, grasses and plant pots and you will find an amazing range of little creatures. These bugs and beasties are invertebrates, animals without a backbone. Some invertebrates are soft bodied (e.g. slugs). Others have a hard exoskeleton and three or more pairs of legs; these are the Anthropods, a very large and diverse group of animals. This guide covers some of the common invertebrates you will find in the garden. For most it will only well you the group it is from, and not the species, as there are so many. Look in 'Further Information' if you want to take your identification further.
